About the position of HSE Lead

As HSE Lead you will be the driving force behind the development and implementation of the Health, Safety and Environment policy at our Schiedam site. You will ensure that we comply with all relevant laws and regulations and contribute to the development of a culture of safety and environmental awareness. In this role you will have a hands-on mentality and be actively involved on the factory floor. You will work closely with the production department as a key stakeholder. You will report to the HSE Manager (Europe) and the Chairman of the Management Team in the Netherlands.

What do we expect of you?

You will develop and implement policies that not only comply with regulations, but also focus on maintaining a safe workplace. You will monitor compliance with HSE standards and advise management on potential improvements. You will lead HSE projects and ensure risk management in the production environment. This includes identifying risks, developing risk control programmes and evaluating their effectiveness. You will carry out incident analysis and ensure the implementation of corrective actions. You will manage relationships with external parties, such as inspectors and suppliers, to ensure compliance with all legal requirements. You will also be responsible for training your team and providing safety instruction to employees and contractors.

As HSE Lead, you will not only coach your team, but also play a key role in implementing the HSE policy on the shop floor. You will actively contribute to improving work processes and take a hands-on approach to ensuring safety and efficiency.

You have:

  • 5-7 years experience in an HSE role, preferably in a technical manufacturing environment;
  • 1-3 years of management experience, preferably in a production or construction environment;
  • A relevant degree (e.g. HVK, MoSHE, NSPOH, A&O Psychologist);
  • Experience in implementing HSE policies in accordance with laws and regulations, especially in a production environment;
  • Valid VCA certificate and knowledge of ISO certification;
  • Knowledge and experience of Dutch safety and environmental regulations;
  • Hands-on mentality;
  • Knowledge of HSE risk management and the development of risk control programmes.

Some practical things we need you to have:

  • An EU passport/valid work permit for The Netherlands;
  • A good command of the English and Dutch language verbally and in writing.
