About the position of Compensation and Benefits employee
What to expect of the Compensation and Benefits employee position within Huisman?
Are you capable of formulating policy and then implementing it? And do you have demonstrable expertise in such fields as expat schemes, taxes, pensions, insurance and bonus schemes?
As Compensation & Benefits employee, you play a key role in developing new benefit and reward programs and policies and optimizing and improving current policy on terms and conditions of employment. In addition you will translate insights and changing Dutch labour law into impactful policies and procedures which fits with the business, stakeholders with a practical approach. You think along in employment conditions and schemes that keep Huisman attractive to employees and you provide optimal support related to global mobility within Huisman.
You are part of the HR team in Schiedam and you report to the HR Manager NL. In this position, you work closely with your direct colleagues within Compensation & Benefits and the specialists of Recruitment, Learning & Development, Support, Payroll and the HR Business Partners.
For this position, we are looking for a permanent colleague employed by Huisman. A temporary filling until we have found our permanent colleague is also a possibility.
What do we expect of you?
- Formulating and maintaining policy on terms and conditions of employment;
- Co-operate with your C&B colleague on developing and implementing policies regarding international mobility and related remuneration issues;
- A shared responsibility for being a contact for all questions and issues from employees who work internationally for Huisman;
- Acting as an escalation point for employee enquiries related to C&B
Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and translate this into a practical advice/proposal with a focus on the continuous improvement of Compensation & Benefits processes and policies; - Maintain existing policies for our Employment Regulations and initiate proposals for new policies to ensure continued compliance with the Dutch labor law.
- Organising benchmark studies;
- Execution of local C&B processes;
- Providing the Board of Management and the HR Manager NL with the data required to substantiate decision-making on C&B policy;
- Maintaining the salary system and presenting proposals for improvement;
- Maintaining the job classification system (KornFerry) and presenting proposals for improvement;
- Maintain legal compliance and equity across all C&B practices;
- Manage and improve benefits like retirement plans and health insurance;
- Consultant and contact for pensions and insurance;
- Consultant for collective labour agreements and related negotiations.

You have:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Human Resource Management, specialization C&B;
- 5-7 years of relevant work experience, of which at least 5 years in an international environment;
- Knowledge of Dutch laws and regulations (required);
- Experience in a family business is an advantage;
- Expertise in compensation & benefits;
- Experience with preparing/implementing policies;
- Experience in international mobility is an advantage.
Some practical things we need you to have:
- An EU passport/valid work permit for the Netherlands;
- A good command of the Dutch and English language verbally and in writing.
