About the position of International Business Controller
What to expect of the International Business Controller within Huisman?
As an International Business Controller, you will play a key role in managing the financial health and operational effectiveness of our global operations. This role combines hands-on financial responsibilities with management issues such as investment analysis and operational improvements. You will work in a matrix organisation, reporting hierarchically to local management while being functionally managed by Huisman Group Control, requiring strong skills in managing dual reporting lines. Your base location will be Schiedam, with an expected presence of approximately 40-60% at our international locations to standardise financial processes and ensure accurate reporting.
What do we expect of you?
We're looking for someone who not only has the financial skills required for this role, but also a strong affinity and interest in working in a physical, industrial environment. You'll be at the heart of our manufacturing processes, contributing to heavy equipment projects for both onshore and offshore applications. We're looking for a candidate who wants to take a second career step in a high impact role within the industrial manufacturing sector.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate periodic financial statements including income statements, budgets, cash flows and variance analysis for international operations;
- Ensure that all financial transactions are accurately recorded, filed and reported in accordance with global standards;
- Streamlining accounting functions and building a strong internal control framework;
- Managing budgets and monitoring expenditure to meet financial targets;
- Ensure compliance with laws and financial regulations in various countries;
- Coordinate audit processes to ensure compliance across all operating regions;
- Provide management with financial analysis and strategic insight on a Group-wide basis.

You have:
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial concepts to a variety of stakeholders;
- A strategic mindset with the ability to think both operationally and at a high level;
- A natural leader with a desire to develop an international team;
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude;
- Good knowledge of financial statistics and accounting principles;
- Experience of accounting software and financial databases;
- Bachelor's degree in International Business Administration, Business Economics or Finance;
- Thorough understanding of legal requirements and regulations in an international context;
- At least 3 years of experience in a complex project environment; ideally, you’re an ambitious professional ready to take the next step in your career;
- Affinity with or interest in an industrial environment (on- and offshore heavy equipment);
- Experience of working in a project-driven organization.
You are:
- Willingness to travel internationally approximately 40-60% of the time;
- A team player;
- Flexible;
- Proactive and persuasive.
Some practical things we need you to have:
- An EU passport/valid work permit for the Netherlands;
- A good command of the English and Dutch language verbally and in writing.
